Avalon
Words & music by Isembard, A.
I don’t even know your name,
but I can tell an exile by his eyes,
tracing the heights.
Enter in this shattered frame,
grey-cast in the waning eventide,
accept the light.
The heavy weight of hours surrounds,
inheres within this earth and stone lain bare,
and forgotten there.
But here between two towers,
tattered sepulchre to sanctuary, the air,
rings out again.
Here and now, you are untamed,
[and answer just the arc towards the sun]
Heir to truth the words retrace,
[cast across the sunlight to become]
Now, fly from this refraining place.
Somewhere in the dark, a flare,
that wakes to life a living flame appears,
come, cavaliers.
And as another gun is brought to bear,
on Avalon, she’s calling far from here,
so, fight your fear.
Waking in the dawn, ethereal and free,
lead me through the mist and blue to what I’m meant to see.
And somewhere in my soul, a voice within me rings,
singing of the skies above and bold, ascending wings.
That I might rise among,
these lonely streets,
lonely doorways,
to the sun.
I’ve seen them falling,
in my dreams,
these hills are freedom,
I can hear them calling.
Listen for the language,
in the leaves that reach the light and you will find,
the words in time.
And answer every anguish with,
tranquility and grace, and you’ll unbind,
the paradigm.
So, now, peace be on these hills and forever hold your ground,
scatter words across the earth and give no quarter now.
We’re living the front lines, but when I come to call,
I’ll rest assured in my heart sure of what I lived them for.
